From the ever-changing CAO comes the Left Coast - a huge 6 3/4 x 72 trapezoid cigar, packed in a 14 count box, with only 400 boxes made. With a Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper, Honduran binder, and filler from Honduras and Columbia, the Left Coast starts remarkably sharp and full bodied bitter earth, and mellows out to a nice, rich slightly sweet toast, with a slight cedar note. If unique sticks are your thing, it's hard to find weirder (and better) than CAO's Left Coast.

The weirdly trapezoidal shape intrigued me, and I just had to try this stick. I like CAO in general - I smoke the CAO America line every 4th of July - but some of their offerings have been lackluster, like the Colombia, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The salty, peppery notes reminded me a bit of beef jerky, and the draw and development of flavor really kept me going. It's a little light on smoke, but that's my only complaint.
